Description

There's something deeply satisfying about preparing a meal on a surface that tells a story. Our Elm Wood Cutting Board is hand-finished by skilled craftspeople in the British countryside, using sustainably sourced elm from managed woodlands. Each board is unique—the grain patterns that sweep across its surface are as individual as a fingerprint.

Elm has been prized by woodworkers for centuries for its interlocking grain, which makes it remarkably resistant to splitting even under heavy use. This isn't a cutting board that will crack or warp after a few months; it's one you'll pass down.

Care: Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, dry immediately. Oil monthly with food-safe mineral oil. Never submerge or put in the dishwasher.

Specification & material

All wooden pieces are crafted from sustainably sourced British elm, harvested from managed woodlands in Staffordshire and Herefordshire. Our linens are GOTS certified organic, woven in Lithuania without harsh chemicals. Ceramics are hand-thrown by Stoke-on-Trent makers whose families have worked clay for generations. We can tell you exactly where every material comes from—just ask.

Delivery

We dispatch orders within 2-3 working days. UK delivery is free on orders over £50, otherwise £4.95. Most orders arrive within 3-5 working days. Every item is wrapped in recyclable paper and shipped in plastic-free packaging—no unnecessary filler, no waste.

Elm&Intent

Founded in 2021 by cabinetmaker Ryan Jordan, Elm and Intent started in a small workshop in Stoke-on-Trent – the same city where Ryan grew up, where his grandfather worked the potteries, and where he still lives with his wife and two kids.
